A long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, there was no such thing as an iPhone…. in Canada, anyway. Back then, “touch” phones weren’t even available. Imagine?

When the QWERTY keyboard phone finally made its foray into the mobile market, teenagers around the country rejoiced. At last, the outdated (and difficult) typing on a T-9 keypad was a thing of the past… well, a thing for your grandparents and other technology laggards. (“Check me on my MySpace page!”)

Back in the old days, I had the good fortune of event producing one of the most fun, and slightly ridiculous, national consumer marketing campaigns I can think of – even to this day.

In honour of the 10th anniversary of this campaign, I wanted to share an oldie, but a YouTube goodie. Ladies and Gentlemen, I t’s time for the 2008 LG Canadian Texting Championships finals in downtown Toronto! Take your seats! The show is about to begin.
